i think that its good that more users are taking privacy more seriously. I believe there is also going to be a boost in matrix, tox, session, telegram users too.
its not a very well known/used app here in usa. also its owned by facebook. just because the message might be encrypted in transit does not exactly mean its privacy protecting. the 2 biggest things to focus on would be meta data auto generated & collected by your messenger provider, and where the data is stored at: your computer, community nodes, or by a mega corp who has decryption keys on-site (or none of the above in the case of tox).
the other ones that i listed have 1 or both of those concerns safe. because whataps is not exactly popular over here, i hope that when the time comes when ppl prefer signal or one of the others over whatsapp.
