😢I'm thinking of turning off chat-to.dev

I'm seriously thinking of turning off CTD. It's been quite difficult to keep up with and sustain the site pretty much on my own. Financially I've been trying my best to keep it online, but lately my strength has been getting weaker and weaker. I have no desire to shut it down, but I feel that I won't be able to keep it up for long on my own. I NEED YOUR HELP

I still will offer free hosting for you. I only have ~3 months of time left during the time that i will be able to help you with the transfer and management. Once that 3 months is up. you will have to fend for yourself, as i will also have no physical access to the server beyond that point. I urge you to take advantage of these months while i am able to help you move into one of my servers, or into one of your own (much much more preferable!). I will not be able to help you in the future. I know that you have alot on your plate with the launch of comuniq, but youll be on your own for quite a while starting this november so i urge you to let me help you take advantage of the time that we have now before im gone. If you would like to discuss further, email me to set up a voice chat or something. Otherwise if we both happen to be in CTD at the same time im happy to discuss here. confidential stuff email only ofcourse.

I think that determining on how many people reply to this post, or interact with it someway or not should be enough to tell you if its a good idea. If this post goes a whole week with only me commenting, then that means no one else must see value in this platform like you and me see. I do hope that more people interact and show that a unique place like this has value. but if not, then its prob the best idea to have you focus all of your time on your new site. While i want CTD to keep existing, i understand that in the real world, its alot of work to maintain a site like this and i am not a cruel enough of a person to demand a maintainer to keep working if there is hardly anyone that appreciates their work. I value the amount of work you put into a platform like this, but you need to put yourself & your new projects first. You can always bring it back up once you have more support and once you have a good income source from one of your other projects.

I completely agree with you, but I also still think that many sites have only become attractive after many years of existence. That takes away the possibility that turning it off now and then turning it back on later will have a different kind of appeal. But it's also very, very difficult to have to wait for it to one day gain the real value it should have, because I have to keep spending time and money to keep it online. I can even assure you that the only things that make me think about shutting it down are the fact that I can't afford to keep it alive and not the low number of active users. It's not a final decision yet, but it's something that could happen

Yes you are right about that. but, if the cost is too great, and only a few people appreciate you. Its hard to keep going. I appreciate this site, but, so far no one has chimed in. This platform is a financial burden for you, its a problem. And the trade off is only a handful of people chatting. Its Sad. As much as i want it to stay, i feel, that i would be a bad person, if i told you to keep it up no matter what. I feel that would be a irresponsible thing for me to tell you. Even if you dont really care about the lack of appreciation and the small handful of active users, you should still put yourself, and your financial stability first.
