We are witnessing a time when microblogs have more power than the most popular social networks

For some time now, many people have felt more ‘at home’ in the simplest and most sparsely populated microblogs/forums. And all of this has grown with the vast invasion of advertising and data theft that the more conventional social networks offer to those who somehow want to get online. Fortunately, there are still people who don't put money before all else and respect the privacy of their users. And the small sites have given their members this option. Let us know in the comments which forums and microblogs you visit and support the most.

I think that its more of; people are just tired of following 500 people that they dont care about. More people would rather have a few select people that they like to follow. I dont even think its just a blog thing. It could be video, audio podcast, hell, it could even be a friends git commit messages. Most people have multiple forms of social media and often spends hours a day on it. Eventually they will realise that they dont care about those hundreds of subscriptions and transition into a more selective media diet. I think this is a positive change because the people i meet on some of these select forums are often far more knowledgeable then a random that you would find on Instagram or an alternative. I know myself, that i feel better off reading a post from someone i like, rather then having a feed of large popular celeberties filling up your news feeds with content that i only *kinda* enjoy.

and I think that the reach that our publications have on this site ends up making more sense than on the big networks. What I publish on a site like this is more likely to be responded to efficiently than on large sites. And that's what really matters, at least to me
