Hello all. One of the best ways to stop smoking is to have a trusted partner enforce it for you. I dont have a smoking problem and neither might you. However you might have a problem with continued learning. I know I do. Once ive found something that ive liked I huddle myself into that environment and hardly leave. That is something that ive been working on trying to break this year. Its been 9 months, and ive made progress but less then I intended. If any of you have the same issue Id love to work through it with you. <br> Here's my proposition. Lets pick a objective. It can be a language/framework, a skill, or something else related and work on it together. By setting a goal between multiple people we will be able to check each others progress and help each other keep learning. <br> My ideas: <br> Networking, this is a skill that may come in handy. Most of us already know a thing or two about it. If you Have setup a home server, vpn, or possibly done some io work for a local business then great job, you've opened the door! However, if your anything like me you referenced a few books you've hand on hand or followed a guide online. I know im not familiar or comfortable on my own and I want to improve that. <br> Rust, Its an ever growing language looking to replace C. That alone is a bold goal since C is the backbone of so many systems. Rust is one of the more difficult languages to learn. Ive personally given it a try and made it over 1/3 through the official rust book. However thats as far as ive gone. This is the language of the future and it think its important that I keep up. <br> AI, its hard not to talk about ai. Honestly im not completely bamboozled by it like some are. I think that it is a craze that will eventually die off. That dont mean its illegitimate. I was never a crypto freak when it was a major thing. However i still think that crypto is a legit alternative that most people should have some of. I think AI is that way. Its super overblown right now and there is lots of $ and investments into it thats puffing it up. Once all the hype dies down it will undoubtedly have infinite uses. I think we should create some project with it to become more familiar. <br> These are just some ideas that ive thought up. The point of this post is to get others to learn along side of. Like coding partners we will be able to keep each other in check and encourage each other to reach a goal. This is not going to be a super fast paced code camp. That dont mean that it wont be alot of work. I know we all have busy lives. Hell im making this post from a live usb running on a staff computer in my retail store. Point is i want some suggestions in the comments providing something that you are interested in. There is so much to learn, if we decide on something that we all communally dont know that will be set as the goal and we will work through it together. Whatever we decide on ill find some free content or course that way it is accessible to everyone. I will determine how much is a weekly goal and we will have feedback once a week.
