Even more online censorship

This is a call to action to take preventative measures where you are locally. We all know the dangers of censorship so I have no need to re-iterate it here. I just want to point out another example of totalitarian progression.
First understand that governments always want more rights then the citizen. The biggest threat to the government is the citizen hence their motivation to out-rank us. Lets take a look at this most recent timeline in regards to internet freedom. [article from over 2 months ago](https://themedialine.org/by-region/pakistan-to-implement-national-firewall-cracking-down-on-online-dissent/)
Immediately after that is published the government immediately denies that their plan of action is to censor everything, of course. Lets jump to now.
Soon after there are massive slowdowns as well as more webpages being inaccessible. Some have been inaccessible for some time like twitter(x) that had been down singe the beginning of this year. Following the slowdowns there becomes a increase of VPN usage to counter the slowdowns as it is speculated that the government is behind it.
Immediately the government goes into damage control where they try to offput some of the blame of their poor rollout of their new censor system. [this is their excuse](https://tribune.com.pk/story/2489837/fault-in-submarine-cable-disrupting-internet-services-across-pakistan-claims-pta-chairman). A perfect rollout would include no noticeable changes for the users keeping them unaware, this is bad of course but it is the goal of these politicians in office.
Reading their excuse, raises a question. how do [all](https://www.submarinecablemap.com/landing-point/karachi-pakistan) of the cables get damaged. the internet load is distributed across these lines so why are all affected?
Noticing that no one believes them General Syed Asim Munir addresses people about the negative aspects of social media and the ["disruptive impact of online platforms"](https://tribune.com.pk/story/2489894/army-chief-stresses-states-duty-to-shield-public-from-social-media-dangers). What you worried about getting disrupted?
Now to be fair they are dealing with terrorism in their country but that is something that you can look up later. The idea is that if people are able to freely access the internet the bad people can communicate as-well.
Just like the Americans used 9/11 as a reason to further empower the NSA countries will come up with a way to publicly justify their actions in a way that makes people who disagree with them terrorist. If you have any counter arguments to big brother then it must be because you want to help the downfall of your country; for example.
This accelerated timeline is pretty new for Pakistan, however we are seeing it occur in other places as-well, just along a different path. Take a look at all the drama in the UK right now. France, Brazil aswell and of-course Poland/Ukraine.
Disregarding all politics we can see progression occurring everywhere. Most people are familiar of the frog in the boiling pot analogy. None of the major western countries currently have a massive program in place to monitor the internet right now that we are aware of. However all of them are inching closer. The more policies that are encouraged to counter hate speech, terrorism, and the such are across the board becoming more popular. As it happens in each of the western countries we become oblivious to the worsening of rights in each country. If you try to compare policies from one country to another you wont see much of a difference as it is universal. If you compare the policies of a country to the policies of the same country however you will see the difference. Were the frog.
[another article if you got some down time](https://www.techradar.com/pro/vpn/how-censorship-is-breaking-the-internet-in-pakistan)
You think it wont happen to you but your unaware that it already is happening, just slowly. Join a local censorship circumvention group and vote for policies that are citizen friendly.

That's right, we are the government's greatest fear, and that's why our wishes always come second to theirs.
