My opinion on Upvotes 🔺 and Downvotes 🔻

Someone once said: "**Everything that's great for the public has to have a pinch of evil**." And for me, voting systems have only added to that cruelty. People do everything they can to win upvotes, but when they share their creations on the internet, they are brutally attacked by a wave of hatred. Even if they recognize the value of the content, some people go there just to disappoint you, giving downvotes in a merciless way. This is not just a question of numbers; these actions have a profound and devastating impact on our emotional health. YouTube has already gone a step further by removing the dislike button. So what are the other platforms waiting for? Why are they still allowing this form of nastiness to flourish? We need safer, more welcoming digital environments where creativity and authenticity are celebrated, not crushed by a single click of negativity. It's time to rethink how we want our online spaces to be. We want supportive places, where criticism is constructive and recognition is sincere. No more allowing digital cruelty to destroy dreams and break hearts. Let's fight for a more humane and compassionate internet. Be kind and leave your opinion on this subject here in the comments

I do agree about the negativity it can draw. If you do something that your passionate about but just aint very popular people will down vote it to get it off their feed. Thats pretty detrimental if you spent time to make something and people just dump on it to get rid of it. On the contrary however, if im looking for advice or something and i see that one reply got flooded with downvotes, i know that its not likley helpful. I think there is a place for down votes. I think that down votes allow "bad takes" still have a voice in some sense. I say this because without downvotes the comment or post would likley be removed or reported enough times to be taken down or reduced visibility. Which is the same outcome that effectively occurs when someone gets mass down voted. Ending is the same.
A suppose a related example to this place would be if someone makes a project thats kinda of silly and no one cares for it. If no downvotes exist his post still has some visibility and can find others who might their their interest. GOOD. But at the same time if someone ask a question and their is an obviously malicious answer " rm -rf --no-preserve-root / " or such, well its pretty clear how a newbie could make a bad move. Now you have to decide if you want to activity patrol everything and have report features to dump bad answers and remove peoples responses (as bad as they may be) or have nasty down votes.
I agree that this place dont need downvotes. but do understand, once this place grows, you will need some type of protection once the trolls come.

you're going to need it. because there's a lot that can come along to somehow pass on bad information or teach the wrong way, and this content is passed on from user to user, thus causing more people to learn the wrong way.
