Universe 2024 - [https://githubuniverse.com/](https://githubuniverse.com/) I'll update the list as needed
of this list that interests me a lot is the one on [githubuniverse](https://githubuniverse.com/)
I attended universe twice. Most recent in 22. Although it was nice, i liked my first attendance more. I dont know the specific year it was but i was real young at the time and went with 2 of my friends. I dont think ill be going back again though. Between the 2 times that i went (aprox 4-6 years) the second event was much more... corporate. There were still great speakers and all but it seems that the big events that made headlines and such + all that was in the promotions were just really really long commercials for mega tech companies. It was less personable and more corporate. I have attended small local events. They may not have huge attendance or as many major players coming in to visit. But if you are looking to meet with people and have a good time as-well as learn about all the new stuff coming up in tech id recommend you steer clear of mega events. I recently attended c&c (my local organizers from online chat rooms) here in the uptown area of my city. Total attendance was ~250 for the 2 day event. There were some big names in attendance such as a redhat booth. some ai stuff but most of it were just other totally normal guys showing off cool shit they made. It was more a glorified show and tell project with food trucks. If you wanna get together id recommend these local events instead. plus tickets were cheap $15 to pay for the empty warehouse they rented for the week. The major issue with these is they dont advertise. The comp&chat is a little event that was organized via irc and discord. XD You have to look for them yourself, a google search aint gonna come up with these. Also look in your area for hackathons or those online coding puzzle race things as the participants in those will also often overlap with the other local events. Also dont forget that you too can organize an event! Just.... if your new; you will absorb more and find better people to learn from if you go where people are showing off weird ass raspberry pi fuckall's and obnoxious elitist arch users rather then a flashy event in LA with supercomputers and billion dollar startups (who will all pretend they didnt just lay off most of their staff). but hey, still attend where-ever you want. Especially if you know what your doing. This is more advice for the impressionable beginners :)
